How to Repair Furniture Upholstery
Furniture upholstery is a great way of giving your furniture an old and homely feel. It is something that may remind you of your grandmother’s house or even your mother’s house. At a time when most people are opting for leather and suede for their furniture, furniture upholstery will look unique and be more memorable. As beautiful ad furniture upholstery can be, it can also become old and worn out due to frequent use. This means that you will most likely see a tear or a stain on it and these will need to be patched up and fixed.
There are different ways of repairing upholstery and these ways are dependent on what the problem is. You do not have to be a great seamstress for you to fix some of these problems and you do not need to call in an expert to do it for you either. There are some very simple ways of fixing simple upholstery tears and these will be discussed below.
If there is a small rip, you can use upholstery thread and an upholstery needle to sew it back together again. You should use thread that is a similar colour to the upholstery so that it does not look untidy and unattractive once you have finished the sewing. You should stitch it up as tightly as possible so that it does not rip again.
A hole in the upholstery might seem impossible to fix, but it can actually be easily repaired. If there is a hole, you should cut out the edges and have a neat circular hole. After doing this, you should cut out a piece of clot from another part of the furniture that is not visible. You can then apply fabric glue to the area around the hole and simply place the extra piece of fabric to cover the hole. This is a very simple solution that will cost you nothing but does a very good job. These are just a few examples of how easy it can be to repair your furniture upholstery and how it can cost you next to nothing to fix.
